Ayo Adeonipekun is a seasoned Finance Professional with a passion for innovation and excellence.
Adeonipekun brings over 25 years of extensive multidisciplinary experience and exposure, spanning Leadership, Financial Management/Control, People and Performance Management, Corporate Planning and Governance, Administration, Business Process Reengineering, Information Technology and a deep understanding of the Capital market. He is a change management specialist and a well sought out Trainer in the financial services industry.
He is an Alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business School, holds a good Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Yaba College of Technology, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting (Second Class Upper Division) and a Master’s degree in Finance from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye. He is currently a Doctoral candidate pursuing his PhD Finance Program at Olabisi Onabanjo University.
A distinguished Fellow of the prestigious Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Stockbroker in the years 1999 and 2006 respectively. He is equally a Certified Microfinance Banker (CIBN) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITB). Adeonipekun is an Authorized Dealing Clerk of the Nigerian Stock Exchange ( now NGX) and a Registered Capital Market Operator/Sponsored Individual with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC).
He started his working career with Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), In the year 1990 serving the Institute for five years. He thereafter commenced his post-graduation professional career with Marina International Bank (Now Access Bank) in the year 2000. He subsequently moved to Crossworld Securities Limited in 2005. Thereafter he moved to NIGALEX and later to Sterling Bank Plc with responsibility for setting up the market risk management unit of Enterprise Risk Management Department.
He later joined First City Monument Bank Plc as Head of Financial Reporting in 2007.
As a result of his strong interest in Development Finance, he left FCMB to build a career in the Microfinance subsector during which he garnered quality experience and international exposure in the Microfinance Industry. During this period, he held various top management positions driving transformation changes.
The versatile finance professional also moved to MBL Financial Services as Chief Dealer with additional responsibilities of overseeing other subsidiaries within the group, from where he then moved to Reliance Capital Limited, a duly registered Funds/Portfolio Management company licensed by the Securities & Exchange Commission, as the pioneer Managing Director, a position he occupied till he joined the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers.
